Observing and naming plants.

This was an introduction lesson to plants. The children needed to name different plants and make observations. There was a video from BBC bitesize that showed the variations in plants. The main activity: ** - Name the plants in the table and make some observations on the plants. *** - choose three plants from the word mat. Cut and stick them onto the three star sheet and make some observations on the plants. Once you have made observations, what is the same and what is different about your chosen plants? Things to consider when observing: colour shape habitat size (leaves, flowers, trunk)

Labelling parts of a plant

This is a simple activity for Year 1 to label a tree and a flowering plant. There is an extension activity on there. For this lesson, my challenge is for children to write the life cycle for a chosen plant. There is a resource to support them from ‘The Great Plant Hunt’. Also, there is a song for parts of a plant that my class LOVE!
